چکیده

evidence acquisition the fifty two significant articles discussing the stem cell in chronic myeloid leukemia from 1996 to 2012 were selected according to the authors’ experience. results studies have shown that primitive cml cells are less responsive to tyrosine kinase inhibitors (tkis) and are a reservoir for the relapse of multi drug resistant (mdr). conclusions following that, minimal residual disease (mrd) measurement aims to detect very small numbers of leukemic cells, below the detection limit of morphology and cytogenetics with molecular techniques for patients in clinical remission. context chronic myeloid leukemia (cml) is believed to occur following the clonal expansion of haematopoietic stem cells and is maintained by expanding clones which have acquired a bcr-abl fusion gene. the properties of untreated cml stem/progenitor cells correlate with a subsequent response to chemotherapy.

Role of Oxidative Stress in Modulating Unfolded Protein Response Activity in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Cell Line

Background: Recently, it has been revealed that tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) act through inducing both oxidative and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in chronic myeloid leukemia cells. However, ER stress signaling triggers both apoptotic and survival processes within cells. Nevertheless, mechanisms by which TKIs avoid the pro-survival effects are not clear. The aim of this study was to ev...

The role of microRNA in acute/chronic, myeloid/lymphocytic leukemia

MicroRNAs are small, non-coding sequences that regulate gene expression by inducing degradation or translational inhibition of target mRNAs. These molecules control many intracellular physiological and pathological processes.Abnormal expression of these moleculs has been described in different cancers including hematopoietic cancers. According to the type of cancer and the stage, miRNA’s expres...

Stem Cell Biomarkers in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a clonal multi-step myeloproliferative disease that is initially produced and ultimately sustained by a rare subpopulation of BCR-ABL+ cells with multi-lineage stem cell properties. These BCR-ABL+ CML stem cells are phenotypically similar to normal hematopoietic stem cells which are also maintained throughout the course of the disease at varying levels in diffe...

chronic myeloid leukemia as a stem cell-derived malignancy

chronic myeloid leukemia (cml) is a myeloproliferative disease of the hematopoietic stem cells, characterized by the presence of the philadelphia (ph) chromosome. although imatinib inhibits the bcr-abl kinase activity, clinical experiences confirm that imatinib may not target cml stem cells in vivo. the identification of signaling pathways responsible for the self-renewal properties of leukemic...

Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Stem Cell Biology

Leukemia progression and relapse is fueled by leukemia stem cells (LSC) that are resistant to current treatments. In the progression of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), blast crisis progenitors are capable of adopting more primitive but deregulated stem cell features with acquired resistance to targeted therapies. This in turn promotes LSC behavior characterized by aberrant self-renewal, differe...

Signaling pathways involved in chronic myeloid leukemia pathogenesis: the importance of targeting Musashi2-Numb signaling to eradicate leukemia stem cells

Objective(s): Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a myeloid clonal proliferation disease defining by the presence of the Philadelphia chromosome that shows the movement of BCR-ABL1. In this study, the critical role of the Musashi2-Numb axis in determining cell fate and relationship of the axis to important signaling pathways such as Hedgehog and Notch that are essential ...
